August 6, 2005 Ten Bells show report from Adrian:
I should have put this up sooner, but even though the Ten bells
show was a bust, John, the lead singer from Flesh for the Beast
had a little get together at his house where we got to play our
whole set. Usually we get only a half hour and I hate having to
choose which songs to play and which ones to leave behind
because, well, I like them all. Anyway, John had a few friends
over and in hindsight, I wish I would have sent an invite to some
of my friends, but I didn't want to overcrowd the place in case
more of John's or his bandmate's friends showed up. Oh well.
Hindsight 20 20. Anyway we all had a great time playing and
listening to each other's extreme fuckin' metal! We played our
stuff, they played theirs. Blast beats, tremolo picking and
guitar solos all around! Don't worry boys and girls, according to
John the Flesh for the Beast CD release party is still going to
happen and as far as I know Ultrathrash, Summon, and Chaotic
Embolism will still be on the bill. We'll keep you posted.

August 24, 2005 The Radio Tavern show report
from Adrian:
Have you ever heard of Murphy's Law which
says that anything that can go wrong, will go wrong? This show
was an excellent example of that. I was told by the guy who put
the show together that we were going to be the SECOND band of the
five that were playing that night so when we were told to show up
at 8:30 and I got there at 8:45, I didn't think too much about
it. Hell, we're the second band and the first band is the only
one that has to worry, right? Well guess who the first band
turned out to be-US! This is the second time this had happened to
us-the first time was at the Radio for our July 30th show and
quite frankly that's two times too many! With that Radio Tavern
show, the confusion led to a rushed setup and soundcheck that cut
into our set time by fifteen minutes and I was NOT too happy with
that. Simply put, let's all make sure we're on the same page with
the information! We played a half hour set, I brought in some
banners I made showing the insignia to add to our stage show, and
we roughed it out. Will's monitor cut in and out, he got a hand
cramp during our second song Bludgeon, Brennan's guitar was out
of tune so he had to use one of mine, Erik had trouble hearing us
through his monitors and missed a few cues and the gong that we
had gone through so much trouble to have miked well still came
off as inaudible and we fell apart on the closer of Sound the
Gore Gong. AAARRRRGH! I can only hope that no one really noticed
^_^. I think the people liked us though. It was tough knowing
personally that we were off our game. It makes me want to watch
my Ultimate Revenge video that has an old Slayer performance on
it. They were having an off night with that performance. Shit
happens. If it can happen to Slayer, it can happen to any band
and I'll find comfort in that. As for the other bands, I was
happy to hear guitar solos in abundance that night, especially
Aeternal! They had guitar solos in spades with tradeoffs,
harmonizing, difficult looking scales, sweep picking, and finger
tapping often they were both playing these solos at the same time
on different parts of the neck. Complicated, progressive, and
aggressive, that's Aeternal! Weddg had a unique sound, but I
could hear some Swedish influence primarily in their guitar
solos. I liked that the guitarists in that band had wireless
setups to free them up. One of the guys got off the stage and
interacted with the small crowd while cranking it out. WE should
get wireless setups! Dementia on Trial worked the crowd with the
members of Weddg getting up on stage to headbang along to their
stuff and Cellcepic closed out the night with some rather extreme
sounding stuff. Afterwards, we took off to Steak and Shake and
tried to put the fiasco behind us with greasy food and way too
skinny french fries. I'm sure things will go better when we play
September 15th at Skelletones.
See you then, 'Til Next We Thrash.
