4/21/06 show report:
-It was fuckin' rockin' at The Rocker that night!
Enrapture took the stage and brought the death metal fury with
their blanket blast beat attacks and heavy
sludge riffs. Then it was time for Ultrathrash. I can't say we
went on without a hitch, though. I surprised my bandmates with
our new backdrop, but it
turned out to be a pain to put up! I had strung it up in a way
that was causing it to collapse in on itself, but Kjell did some
quick thinking and problem
solving (note: hang banners with two separate ropes one per end
and not like a clothesline!) and we were good to go. Too bad the
banner thing ate up some
serious setup time! Nonetheless, we tore it up and had some
people moshing around and acting like maniacs! Yeah there were a
couple of Spinal Tap moments
such as putting up the banner (which looked fuckin' cool I might
add) and Brennan had some sound problems due to a bad cable, but
one of the security guys
did some trouble shooting and nipped our problem in the bud. Like
I said we persevered and fought through that shit! Project
Apocalypse played after us
with their fast black metal (I wish they still had their
keyboardist), and they had a couple of Spinal Tap moments as well
dealing with a bad microphone.
Great show despite the mic. Aeternal played and it was a
bittersweet performance because it was Paul's (the other
guitarist) last show with the band.
Aeternal upheld their reputation for fast brutality, tightness
and complexity, but I was heartbroken that real life was catching
up to some of the guys.
Don't break up, guys. Gabe (their former bassist) and Paul will
be missed and whoever replaces them have some big shoes to fill!
Good turnout and shoutout
to Zombie Joe, Nate, Vergil (Wolfgeist), John from Flesh for the
Beast, Tammy from Rock the Madhouse, Tim from Genocya, and Ryan
and the drummer from Through
the Mist, Jason from Dementia On Trial and Joel for your support.
Thanks to Sonny from Project Apocalypse for putting us on the
bill and I HAVE to give mad
props to Terry aka T-Bone from Eye Candy Tattoo for making our
backdrop! See you guys May 19th at The Rocker! Adrian Von
Overlord has spoken!
Thanks again to Val for taking the photos!
