(1/12/05) Skelletones show report from the drummer:
This was our first gig as a whole band with our new
bass player, Will.
It was a very cold night and moving gear into such a small venue
through the front door while numerous patrons were wandering
about the place was a bit of a hassel, nice club though. The
front of the stage where the audience stands became a cluster
f*** of band instruments and amps as all five acts were required
to be there at the same time and have no other place to set their
gear. All things worked out though, just a little less room for
people in the front with so many bands.
Fortunately the first "band" (not insulting them but
there were just two people) which consisted of a bass player and
a drummer opted to set up on the floor which allowed us to go
ahead and set up on the stage since we were slotted to go second.
When it was time to play Adrian started with Elegy of Icarus by
Emperor that the audience seemed to like. Then it was into the
intro of Perpetual Speed which caught everyone's attention but
kept them wondering what was coming next. Speed was next and as
we launched into it several slam dancers exploded knocking
members of the crowd aside to create a pit which lasted
throughout the show. Everyone was into our show and cheered
between songs (to my suprise as we were unknown there and not the
usual kind of band they have).
We obviously wowed a good portion of the crowd as many people
commented after the show that we were the best/tightest band they
had ever seen there and they were also wondering if we had a CD
for purchase (it's coming).
